VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Canadian consumers aren’t yet feeling the impact of the weekold port strike in British Columbia, but businesses are beginning to be pinched by the shutdown of docks that handle 25% of the country’s foreign trade, experts said Friday. The strike by 7,400 members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Canada began July 1 and shut down more than 30 west coast ports.Robin Guy, vice president and deputy leader of government relations at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, said the affected ports handle cargo worth over 800 million Canadian dollars ($600 million) every day.“It affects us, it affects people internationally who are relying on Canadian goods to be delivered,” Guy said.Greg Wilson, director of government relations for the Retail Council of Canada, said he didn’t expect Canadian consumers to “really see significant impacts for weeks.” It’s a different story, he said, for small businesses that operate on ...Pache’s pinch-hit, 2-run HR rallies Phils past Marlins for record-tying 13th straight road win

MIAMI (AP) — Phillies pinch-hitter Cristian Pache predicted earlier this week that he would have a home run against the Miami Marlins. He didn’t know that he would deliver one of the biggest hits of his career in his first at-bat Friday night.Pache hit a two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning to help the Phillies rally past the Marlins 4-3 and match the franchise record with their 13th straight road victory.“Back in Tampa I told the boys, ‘When I hit the ball out of the park in Miami, I’m going to jump and have fun,’” Pache said. “And look at that. In my first at-bat I actually hit it out of the park.”The Phillies, coming off a three-game sweep of the AL-leading Rays, moved within 1 1/2 games of the second-place Marlins in the NL East standings by tying the franchise mark for road wins set. On Sunday, after Orioles center fielder Cedric Mullins ranged to his left and into Camden Yards’ outfield wall to rob Minnesota Twins designated hitter Byron Buxton of extra bases, starting pitcher Cole Irvin believed Mullins deserved a thank you gift.“I think I owe Ced a little something,” Irvin quipped. That probably would not suffice for Friday’s second act, when Mullins leaped in the bottom of the fourth inning at Target Field to deny Buxton what otherwise would have been a three-run home run off Irvin. Buxton slammed his helmet into the ground and put his hand on hips then in the air before tipping his helmet toward Mullins, the Gold Glove Award finalist shrugging with a smirk in response.Irvin retired the next two Twins to keep the game scoreless, and Mullins produced the game’s first run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth. It did not stand as such, but the Orioles managed to open their final series before the All-Star break with a 3-1 victory in 10...Chicago Bulls in free agency: Coby White’s new multiyear deal is official
